Information for Referring Veterinarians
Dr Eloise Bright MANZCVS (Veterinary Behaviour) is happy to receive referrals from vets in Canberra and the local region or pet owners can book directly online.
Having performed behaviour consultations in private practice for many years, home visit consultations really are a game changer. Problems such as separation anxiety, barking, generalised anxiety, aggression and really all cat behaviour problems are much easier to address when you can see the behaviour in action, meet all the family members and see the environment at home. There is also less rush when there is not a busy waiting room full of people and I can take my time in making a diagnosis and working out a treatment plan.
As a mobile veterinarian without access to a nurse or diagnostic tests. Í will always refer pets back to their regular veterinarian for additional testing if this is required. If it is possible to do blood tests prior to referral that is greatly appreciated, but definitely not compulsory. Many pets with behavioural concerns are scared (and a little scary) at the vet, so it is sometimes safer to wait until after the pet has been assessed and a treatment plan made before doing blood tests. I can then dispense pre-visit anxiolytics such as gabapentin and trazodone to be given prior to their next vet visit.
If you would like me to visit your clinic to chat about a referral relationship, please get in touch. Of if you would like business cards posted or dropped off to your practice please let me know. Pet owners can book a consultation online with or without a referral being made. Should you be unsure if a client needs a behaviour consultation or a trainer, I am happy to assist with this, as I have a network of positive trainers I can recommend, including these. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions or discuss cases at any time.
